A Helping Hand for the Poor...

For St. Michael’s College, health care assistance to the poor is more a social responsibility than a welfare programme. The NSS unit functioning in the college is the pioneer organization in this regard. The unit has organised a slew of social responsibility initiatives like ‘A Hundred for a Hunger’, ‘Coin a Week, ‘Care One Friend’ and ‘We Help’ to lend a helping hand to the ones in need. Under the banner of ‘We Help’ programme, NSS donated Rs. 15000/- to Mr. Sumesh and family on 1st December, 2015. The fund was utilized for the heart surgery of Baby Rohini, Sumesh’s daughter. NSS raised the fund through a mass campaign on the campus in which teachers and students munificently donated.

Principal, Dr. V. Mathew handed over the cash to the family. NSS Programme Officer Prof. Pratheesh, Prof. Joseph Libin, Prof. A. V. Dominic, Prof. Jinse Jose, Master Nidhin Thomas, Sudev. S and Jithu Jose were present at the occasion. Littlie Rohini’s operation was conducted successfully on 2nd December, 2015, at Kottayam Medical College.
